Herel’s Half Acre Farms are family owned and operated farms located in White County, Tennessee. We are dedicated to providing 100% Raw Pure Honey; Italian, and Russian Honey Bees; and Purebred Gelbvieh Beef Cattle. Our focus is to provide the highest quality of Tennessee Honey and Honey Bees as well as producing superior Purebred Gelbvieh Bulls and Females for sale to both commercial and seed-stock cattle operations.
Our farms are nestled below the Cumberland Plateau in Sparta and Walling, and are just a little over an hour and a half from Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Nashville Tennessee. We are approximately two and a half hours from Huntsville Alabama, three hours from Atlanta Georgia and about four hours from Lexington Kentucky.
We invite you to follow the links provided above to our Tennessee Honey Bee Hives and Honey and /or our Tennessee Gelbvieh Beef Cattle endeavors directly.
Honey Bees: The majority of our Honey Bee hives originated from years of breeding in the North Eastern USA. In 2010 they were moved to central Tennessee where the weather is so much more conducive to both breeding and honey production.
We came through this past winter (2014-2015) with bee hive loses less than 4% while the state of TN bee hive loses were significantly higher. We attribute our success to our honey bees being from the Northeast where they were winter hardy, our integrated pest management program and a little luck.
Purebred Gelbvieh Beef Cattle: We started our Purebred Gelbvieh cattle herd in 2011 with the mission to produce cattle with exceptional genetics. With the help of a handful of Tennessean and one Alabama cattlemen (acknowledged under “Maps/Links/Contact Us” tab) our herd assembled from select purchases from the Tennessee and Kentucky State Gelbvieh Association Fall 2011 sale, Seedstock Plus LLC Fall 2011 Missouri sale, Maternal Edge 2011 sale in Cross Plains Tennessee, Bluegrass Gelbvieh Invitational Fall 2011 sale and by private treaty from farms in Tennessee and Alabama. The pedigree’s of our cattle include renowned Gelbvieh genetic leaders and can be viewed (linked to the AGA website) by clicking on each picture in the “For Sale” or “Cattle” Tabs.
We are active members of the American Gelbvieh Association, the Tennessee Gelbvieh Association, and the Tennessee Cattleman Association for White and Van Buren County’s. The links for the sites are provided below:
